Re: Chickens have a cold

Hi Ann )wav(

Sorry to hear your chooks are unwell {cry}

It sounds like a respiratory infection to me which is contagious so will more than likely spread to all the birds.

Antibiotics will treat the virus, Tylan or as Lisa says Baytril )t'

I would just say that if you can it's always best to start with 3 girls. That way if you lose one then you'll not be left with a lonely girl )t'

Re: Lost my first Girl - Gutted...

So sorry you lost your little girl I introduced 3 new girls after we lost our first. It went much more smoothly than expected. If you take it slowly and allow enough room it shouldn't be too stressful I believe that the average age of a chicken is 6 years but all to often they just die for no appare...

If hubby is working then they get let out at between 6 and 7 depending if it's a night shift or not. Otherwise they get let out anything up to 8 o'clock. It also depends on the birds them...

Re: What Breed Are My Bantams ?

They are gorgeous looking girls but as Annie says without some perspective it's difficult to tell if they're bantams.

I read somewhere that bantams are on average a fourth the size of normal hens.

Don't know how true that is as i've never had any :?

Re: dumped cockerel looking for home

I got my boy because he was dumped at the end of our road.

It makes me so mad that some people think it's ok to just discard animals like they are a piece of rubbish )ang

I hope you find a home for him {hug}
