Re: Frugal Baby Ideas?

I would definately recommend cloth nappies. You can get a really good birth to potty kit from little lambs, for around £300 - it seems like a big outlay but you'd spend that on disposables in a few months - branded ones are around £10 a pack! Also there is a thriving market in preloved nappies, I go...

Re: pressure cookers (feel free to make daft comments Perchy

You;ve made me wonder where mine has got to, I haven't seen it since last winter.

The only thing I have used it for is making irish stew, and it really was the best stew I've ever done.

My Reading List

I have decided to re-read some books I haven't picked up for years - as well as adding in a few of those "I've-always-meant-to-read-that" titles. I have always been an avid reader, as a child I was never far from a book and would usually have 2 or 3 on the go at any given time, but since h...

Swamp People on History

MY name is Sarah and I'm a History channel addict My favourite of all programmes is Swamp People. It follows the people who live in the swamps of Louisiana during the month-long alligator hunting season. Its absolutely fascinating. I got all over-excited today when one of the Landry family followed ...

Re: Is anyone else reading THAT book?

I read all 3 on my Kindle. Once you get over the novelty value of the more "interesting" scenes, all you;re left with in between is a mediocre 21st-century Mills and Boon style romance.

Back to Agatha Christie, Ngaio Marsh and Dorothy Sayers for me - ladies who really knew how to write!

Re: The black dog is back

I dont really have much more to add other than I hope you start to feel better soon. I suffered from post-natal depression 2 years ago when number 2 came along and it was dreadful - I'm so glad I came out the other side after 6 or 7 months. Some days I feel the little black storm cloud hovering near...

Re: What tinned food do you buy?

I usually keep a supply of tinned tomatos, kidney beans, chick peas, tuna and baked beans. My OH also buys tinned carrots and peas (which I dont eat, they're too soft) and tinned soup - again, not something I eat. I prefer to either have fresh veg, or frozen - but not tinned.

Re: Your local carboot sale?

There is a very big car boot sale in belfast every sunday morning. It's mostly proper car booters with a few stalls that are businesses. It's worth going to fort he wee farmer that comes up every week from Armagh, he sells fruit and veg - most of the veg is from his farm or farms around him. He has ...

Re: Hanging herb garden

I have been on the lookout for a shoe hanger like that for ages now - I saw one planted up as a salad garden with tumbling toms, some herbs and all sorts of cut and come again salad leaves. I have also seen it done with strawberries.

Re: Positive about sorting my weight this time...

Well, I jumped back on the slimming world bandwagon last week - third time lucky....? This time I have 3stone 3lb to lose.

I weighed in last night and have lost 4 1/2 lb in my first week. :-D
