Chicken coops

Today I decided that the coops need painting and we are going to move them into a different position in the garden. So the nice coop we bought last year has had its first coat of paint, it is going to be the duck house, if we can ever get the ducks to use it So first thing tomorrow morning (as accor...

Re: How many eggs do you eat a week ?

We tend to eat what ever amount we have, if I do have lots then I make lemon curd, which doesn't last very long on our house. We have been very low at times during the winter and have probably only eaten eggs atthe weekend when we have breakfast together. Things are picking up now, and last weekend ...

Re: New Pekins

One of the new little ladies took herself off into the coop tonight, but there was some uneasiness going on in there. My original flock were in and out, and clearly unhappy about it. I did have to put the other new lady in again. But considering this is only there 4th night I think things are going ...

Re: Advice needed

The ducks are much more settled now, they are in and out of the main pond into the smaller natural filter pond. They are eating well, pond weed and pellets. They haven't as yet ventured onto the grass but they have had a waddle around the decking, so I think in their own time they will come out onto...

Re: New Pekins

They have had the last half an hour before dusk out with the rest of the gang. My eldest banty from our first ever trio of hens gave them a filthy look but didn't bother them. The other 2 Pekins showed no interest what so ever. Silkie Molly is broody and has no interest in anything other than steali...

New Pekins

As of today we have 2 little Pekin lady's join our little flock. They are tiny and sooo cute. They have been separated today from our original girls and boy. There are all in the coup together tonight and all is quiet. I will try to post some pics in the week.

Re: New hen

The poor little lady hasn't made it through hubby said she died about mid day today. Hopefully she was a little more comfortable with me the last few days than she was whilst in the farm. I feel terribly sad, I really hoped I would eventually see her free ranging around my garden with my little broo...

Re: New hen

Thanks everyone for your good wishes. Well the little lady does appear to be slightly better, she is eating small amounts on her own, when I arrived home from work tonight her crop contained food However she appears to be terribly constipated, and looks like she is pro lapsing. She has had warm bath...
