Looks like a wasps nest to me. Can't see properly in the pic, but they are usually small, paper thin and very delicate with a hole in the bottom. I found one in a shed recently, knocked it off with a long stick and sprayed with insect killer, then legged it quickly. When I looked again it was empty.
The nests are really quite beautiful and I felt a bit rotten destroying all that work. But I hate wasps
I am now a widow and live with my memories.

You do realise that all the thousands of wasps that flew out last night are now sitting up in a tree plotting their revenge don't you

Here we go - just another piece of rammel that is stored in me bonse.

If a wasp is prevented from going into its own nest, it will smell out another to inhabit, that very night. But nature being nature - the new nest wasps - sting it to death, long may it happen. )t'

all the wasps that escaped have spent all day bothering my missus {rofwl} , she said thats there`s been hundreds of them buzzing about {rofwl} , but they`ve started their new nest, it`s in the roof of the shed I knocked the box off }hairout{ , I`m going to pump it full of wasp killer powder stuff tonight and then pump a load of silicone sealer in there too for good measure )t' )t'
