OWLS

Thought I'd share this with you. Especially the last few seconds where its feathers ruffle and the wings swell. Also the steering (if thats the right word) of the wings.

Not wishing to ruffle your feathers (sorry bad pun) but I have seen this footage before, it is a fantastic piece of cinematography without a doubt. It is amazing how such magnificent creatures have evolved to be such masters of flight; you have got to put your hands together for mother nature, she has forged the feather nature from a chance genetic mutation on a prehistoric bird ancestor to what we have today; the whole thing is quite miraculous. Thank you muchly Maggie for this, it shows the feather in all it’s glory.

I once held an eagle owl at a falconry show, maybe held is the wrong word, I had a welding glove on and put my hand on a taal stick and the owl hopped onto my hand being held up by the stick. I was amazed by its weight and the grip it had on my hand through the glove. I was sure it could have pushed those talons through the glove if it wanted to. They truely are magnificent creatures.

Al for your next birthday ask for a day at a falconry centre, you will love learning more about Birds of prey and flying some of them and maybe going on a hawk walk really a fabulous experience
