Swallows
SwallowsHas anyone seen a Swallow yet this year?
When Irish eyes are smiling, they are usually up to mischief.
Re: SwallowsNot yet but I get so excited when I see the first ones. Perhaps still a bit early. At least my outside loo is still useable for humans. Once they start nesting it is far to dodgy. Have had 2 lots nesting in it for years now.
Re: SwallowsWe saw "something" last Easter Sat. at Strumble Head in Pembrokeshire.
It was on the cliffs, we wondered if it was a Sand Martin ? Also last weekend in the valley we live in further up the coast. I always get them confused , could have been Swifts?
Re: SwallowsNone here yet, but my first sighting of last year was the 19th (tomorrow!), so will be keeping my eyes peeled!
Re: SwallowsTHEY ARE HERE. Thought I saw 2 yesterday but 1 pair sitting on the wires at the back of my place this morning
Re: SwallowsSpotted our first one yesterday in the barns. Last year I counted 50 plus, each year there seems to be more and more. Here we go again moving horse rugs etc so they dont get pooped on.
Will give the cats a warning in readiness as when the cats walk over the courtyard the swallows dive bomb them They get really, really close, as in a couple of inches from the cats head. The other year our cat Harry used to catch them as they swooped by him which wasnt very nice to see.
Re: SwallowsJust seen a couple about an hour ago,its been said they were seen in Co.Down on the 27th of March, but that seems a bit early.

Re: SwallowsNot seen any yet round here - mind you cannot remember if it is housemartins or swallows who build nests in the stable and poo all over my big lad

Re: Swallows One flew over my back garden this morning , looking quite magnificent as it fought the wind ,looking like a Harrier Jump Jet on a bombing run.
