bees wanting to nest

Post by Tink »

Advice please, we have just lit the fire to discourage bees from nesting in the chimney as just found one in the log burner.
Now they are in and out of my sparrow terrace which has nesting sparrows using some of "rooms".
The terrace is next to the lounge window and wondering what I can do to discourage the bees without harming the sparrows.

Perhaps get in touch with a local bee keeping society? They would know what to do for you, and as I think bees are protected, they may even remover them for you too.

The british bee keepers association will be happy to remove a swarm, there will be someone near you waiting for a new bee colony.

Put your postcode into the box on their site to find your local swarm collector.

Don't worry too much while you wait, swarming honey bees are very docile and rarely sting.

Thanks very much.....panic over now.
I did as you advised. I did not wish to harm either species of course.
They advised I hose, not to near, the bird boxes and the bees will go elsewhere at this stage.
All quiet now and fire still lit, they have had a look under a couple of roof tiles so will check loft next couple of days.
