Cormorants

Post by Trev62 »

The last couple of weeks we have been surprised to see cormorants around one of the lakes we walk to most mornings. It took a while to actually confirm what they were as it has been many years since seeing one and I did not realize they came in land as we have never seen them here before. There is about twenty of them sitting in a single tree most mornings, a lovely sight to see.

I do need a decent sent of binoculars to get a better view of the wildlife around here, so any ideas anyone?

We see a lot on inland lakes now (not sure how long they've been doing this, remember them as a seaside bird)

That is how I always thought of them as coastal residents along with shags. Their numbers at this lake seem to be around 20, we are heading to a different lake tomorrow so it will be interesting to see if they are also there.
