Late veggies
Late veggiesHi all,
has anyone had experience of growing veggies late in the season in the uk. I am considering growing some to be ready for Christmas. Any advice appreciated. Paul Re: Late veggiesBest if you have a polytunnel or greenhouse I would think. low light and low temps make growth slow and weak. Leaf veg and salading might do ok under cover. Perhaps the globe carrots.
I tend to grow more in the summer and freeze for xmas use. Some veg are daylength sensitive and will not grow in the autumn - onions etc. Spinach beet , leeks, broccoli, parsnips etc stand well outside after doing their growth earlier in the year. Quand je serai vieille je vais vivre en France

Re: Late veggies
I bought some seed potatoes sold as Christmas potatoes from my local wyevale garden centre on Saturday.I have got them chitting at the mo. and will dig a new bed for them at the weekend, weather permitting.I hope they do well as I can already smell them roasting on Christmas morning !. ![]() Live a simple life and be happy , Rich.
