Corn on the cob, ready or not???
Corn on the cob, ready or not???Hi everyone! I've planted corn on the cob for the first time this year. Very pleased how well they are doing, but I have no idea when the cobs are ready to harvest?!
What do they look like when they are ready? Thank you! Angela
Hi Angela.Look at the top where the tassles are by peeling back the outer leaves. You will then see if the corn has developed to an edible size.
Mike Right now I'm having amnesia and deja vu at the same time. I think I've forgotten this before.
ready or not!Melted butter with added corn on the cob persay.

When the tassels are still green they are not ready, but when the tassels start to turn brown, they are just about right.
Pull a little of the leaves back, and you will see if the top of the cob is nice and juicy and yellow. Then straight into a pan of boiling water (no salt in water - salt makes the corn tough), and lashings of unsalted butter. And don't forget the toothpicks!
ready or not?And the bowl of lemon juice for the pinkies
