Goji Berry in a container ?

Post by Linda S »

I have been given 2 goji berry plants on the tab it looks like its planted straight into the ground.
We have a big problem with horse tail }hairout{ in our garden and tend to plant anything except trees into planters or pots.
Would a pot be suitable for these plants, if so how big. It looks like they might get to between 100-3oocms high nothing about how wide or bushy )t' Lindaxx
And then there was one, Again!!!!

Have just looked on line (didnt know what they were) and it says they grow 'anywhere' and are THE easiest of plants to grow too, so I would imagine a large pot, as they need to be planted in the garden 1m apart would be fine.

You could try one in a pot and one in the garden just to see which is best, but it did say for the first year either bring inside into a greenhouse or cover with fleece. Also read just to give an occassional feed and water regularly.

Thanks Gwen i had a look too last night, dont know why i didnt think of that first >dum< Tbh i think the pots will be my best option with how our garden is set out and we are planning to move it round a bit. My daughter also brings our horses up home and they gobble anything in thier path so prob best if we can move them out of the gannets way {rofwl}
Jim also gave me a jasmine plant as well so that will def go in a pot :-D Lindaxx

Definitely in the ground. My neighbour gave me a runner (they run like strawberries) and it's doing really well. :-D

I grew a bunch from berries I bought at Tesco, after I read they were the new 'Super food' and ended up planting just one. It's been in the ground for about 4 years now and took ages to establish, not a sign of berries yet though. Maybe they need a partner for pollination, but no blossom yet either. I saw on a US site that they can take a long time to establish.
