Flies in the greenhouse.Flies in the greenhouse.Opened up the greenhouse this morning to water the veg and discovered a lot of large black flies which I have found out are called 'St Marks Fly' (is'nt the internet great ). Will they damage my veggies? Apparently they only live a couple of weeks but I don't want to find in 2 weeks all my hard work raising everything from seed has all been destroyed.
Re: Flies in the greenhouse.Had to look it up myself - apparently it is one of the good guys, pollinating fruit trees & flowers. The larvae feed on grass roots so your greenhouse plants should be okay. I'd be wary of sweetcorn in there but all else are fine.
