Re: pressure cookers (feel free to make daft comments PerchyYou;ve made me wonder where mine has got to, I haven't seen it since last winter.
The only thing I have used it for is making irish stew, and it really was the best stew I've ever done. Waiting to welcome Sunny Clucker to Northern Ireland!
Re: pressure cookers (feel free to make daft comments PerchyI used mine this evening - I made beef stew & it was delicious

Re: pressure cookers (feel free to make daft comments PerchyI thought you were talking about chefs who work under G0rdon Ramsey.

Even by Mod standards, that was a pretty poor quip Dom (even Perches's joke were funnier and that is going some). Bah Humbug

Re: pressure cookers (feel free to make daft comments PerchyMy mum used to use her a lot ( Mmm squishy sprouts )
I have 2 pressure cookers, one might work if I could find the rubber seal. I use the pans for cooking rice or mash Sarah - slave to Cats Anthony, Elsa and Pippa, Chickens, Heidi, Fleur, Gabby and Marmite, R.I.P Cadbury

that brought back some happy memories Re: pressure cookers (feel free to make daft comments PerchyI really do like squishy sprouts
I also like them cooked properly - the Gordon Ramsay way We had a lot of mince and veg growing up. Veg in the pressure cooker in those little triangle baskets that go inside. Sarah - slave to Cats Anthony, Elsa and Pippa, Chickens, Heidi, Fleur, Gabby and Marmite, R.I.P Cadbury
Re: pressure cookers (feel free to make daft comments PerchyMy mam had one years ago, I was terrified of it
She made rhubarb jam in it one time and the lid blew off and the jam was all over the ceiling and walls of her kitchen! Mother of two, stepmum to two, all grown up and flown the nest. Grandma to Lucy, who's 12 and is my best friend. Two dogs, 6 Gingernut Rangers, and one lovely hubby!

I've always felt pretty safe with mine. Just need to make sure you keep the safety valve clean and in good condition, and don't overfill - it can froth up and block the vent.
Re: pressure cookers (feel free to make daft comments PerchySee that really doesn't help!
I think I might being growing a 'want' for one. Mainly cos the slow cooker looks lonely! I was hoping to get some advice! Not be scared witless 1 dumbo rat still without a name; 2 top eared rats Octavia and Ursula

The problem was the rubber seal had gone hard and wasn't sealing. Bought a new one from amazon for £5.20 and works fine. I think I will use it for cooking soups and things like re-hydrated dried beans and pulses that seem to take an eternity to cook.

Re: pressure cookers (feel free to make daft comments PerchyI have one that I use occasionally. My Mum used hers daily to cook the veg. She had 3 little pie shape baskets that sat raised on a thing with legs. It kept things separate and stopped them getting waterlogged. I wish I had those extra bits. I don't think they still make them with those included? I should use it more though.
Re: pressure cookers (feel free to make daft comments PerchyAlthough I have never used one, I have always perceived them as some type of bomb.
