Baked Potato Toppings

Post by saint-spoon »

Have we done this one before?

What does everyone like on top of their baked potato? This evening I had cheese and butter with prawns on the side, June had beans instead of prawns. I sometimes have curry over the top of the cheese and butter which is tops.

Are we sure that we haven’t done this one before, I’m getting déjà vu writing this out.

Butter, chopped ham & grated cheese - then grilled to melt/brown. Yum!

Oh I love bolognase on mine with grated cheese and in the winter - chilli and cheese. I also sweat down some sliced leeks add cut up bacon and cook till soft - scrape out the potato add this and then spoon the lot back in the potato - top with cheese and put back in the oven till the cheese is golden and bubbling. I love baked spuds especially the skin so I usually do 3 spuds - have one whole one and then the skins of the other two and give the potato bit to my hens. Sometimes with the extra skins I fill with cheese and grill them till golden and bubbling. Oh I wish I had a baked spud now instead of boring salad (I hate salad I cant seem to make salad exciting its just rabbit food to me but I can get loads of veggies in a salad so I know its good for me).

As far as I am concerned the only way to to a baked tatty is first carfully cut a cross in the top ( the tatty must be well cooked with a crispy skin and a mash like consistancy inside) then dress with plenty of real butter and copped chives then top the whole lot with beens and a pile of extra mature chedder.
Okay now my tummy is rumbling )eat(

I used to work in a small cafe at our church, (not the one we are at now), and in the summer we used to sell baked potatoes with yogurt, cucumber and mint. It nice and refreshing. Served with a salad.

I love baked potatos. I have lots of fave toppings - greek yoghurt is good in the summer (plain with tuna and sweetcorn or made into tsatziki) or baked beans and cheese. Cottage cheese with fresh chives chopped in is a good slimming world one, or leftover chili/bolognase. Oooh, bacon and cheese, thats nice too.
Now my tummy is rumbling as well LoL
