Spices..

Post by Citrine »

...blimey, I'm really daft!!

Can anyone please tell me the difference between Mixed Spice and Allspice?? Can I use Allspice in cake making?

Its proving difficult to get some mixed spice - unless its Christmas (oops, sorry for swearing!) shops around here dont seem to stock it! So i purchased allspice. )c+

I was under the impression that allspice was actually a single spice and that mixed spice was a combination of all diferent spices. Why not try mixing your own spices, i would suggest starting with ground ginger, nutmeg and cinnamon and work from there.
