Who would have thought it. BBC news site has a story of stranded whales saved by a dolphin

To be honest I don’t see any reason why it shouldn’t happen (and it obviously has), there are many stories about people being rescued by them why not a whale? Some species such as bottlenose dolphins do kill the competition such as harbour porpoises but a pygmy sperm whale probably doesn’t come under the competition label. Dolphins are highly emotional creatures as well so it my have been an act to ease it’s own discomfort although I prefer the theory that it just did it to be nice. :-D

What lovely story. And also what a wonderful place to live where the dolphin "often" plays in the water with swimmers etc!

Its nice to see a story with a happy ending!
