Little foxxie.Little foxxie.Poor thing has a chest infection and a cough. She's exhausted.
I took here to the vets and they wanted to put here on 4 tablets a day. Around £80 a month. Only one of them was for her chest. The others are for her heart murmur and because she's had a stroke. She's 16! she's had one stroke years ago and the heart murmur is only minor and probably had it most of her life and previous vets have told me that although she's weaker than a 100% fit dog she's doing fine and medication wouldn't make her enjoy life more. She's 16 so is going to have some problems. All I wanted them to do is try and help here chest problem and I feel like they've tried to milk me. She's had an injection and has tablets for her chest. I hope it makes her feel better. I've had the afternoon off work to take her to the vets and spend time with her. She seems a little happier now. Allotment http://taylorsplot.blogspot.com/

My little Colin is nearly 17 and we have had to have him at the vets recently. With what we thought was his teeth, that we had cleaned at well over £100 and found out he has tonsillitis, very badly. Poor litle mite. All you can do is your best and try to keep them pain feel and comfortable at this very old age, big for Foxxie http://www.busheyk9.co.uk
If you can't be a good example........ you will just have to be a horrible warning Re: Little foxxie.Poor Foxie (and you) I hope the injections help and she feels better.
I did have a sense of dread with the title of this thread, she's been through the wars in the past year. for you and Foxie I have chickens Blaze, Star and Comet, who have met Sunny Clucker in Cheshire :-)
I'm training to be a midwife!!!!!
Re: Little foxxie.I am not a big believer in pushing loads of medication into older animals. Obviously she needs something for her chest infection but if she has been OK without the other tablets throughout her life then "if it ain't broke etc"
Re: Little foxxie.Poor foxxie, it's so difficult to see them slow down, hopefully the injection will make her feel a bit better?

He is a remarkable little dog. http://www.busheyk9.co.uk

I'm Trish Colton on FB DTL Re: Little foxxie. She's outside protesting at present because the chickens have been fed and she's not. There is a wire fence between them so she's not happy.

Re: Little foxxie.I do hope that little foxxie is soon feeling more comfortable. My old boy is now turned 17 and has problems, but like others with old pets, we can only hope that their days are as comfortable as possible.
I am now a widow and live with my memories.
Re: Little foxxie.17 is a great age for a dog. It just shows how much TLC these lovely family friends get.
Ellie x P.s. love the avatar June, you look really festive! The talent for being happy is appreciating and liking what you have, instead of what you don't have
Woody Allen Re: Little foxxie.I came home and she looked up at me. I made a fuss without going to her and she sat up. I called but she wasn't interested. I put her front legs out of the basket and called walkies and she reluctantly followed. I got her to go to the mouth of the park for a wee.
The little monkey promptly turns round and trots! home because she wanted food! She only ate a little and is now looking sorry for herself again. Allotment http://taylorsplot.blogspot.com/

Re: Little foxxie.Hi Orfy hope Foxxie is feeling a lot better now.
I don't know what medication she's been given, but if she has a heart murmur and has a chest infection they may be concerned about fluid building up. Do you know the name of the medication she has been put on? Our pets are a worry, aren't they? She looks really cute and reminds me a bit of my Monty. He's coming into work on Monday, he has a lump on his chest I'm concerned about. I hope Foxxie is keeping nice and warm and cosy. http://www.freshstartforhens.co.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Helping to give ex-battery hens a fresh start! http://thevintagebelles.blogspot.co.uk/ Re: Little foxxie. Thanks for the concern all. I'll have a look at the tablet packet and let you know.
The did say the injection was a diuretic (Spelling?) She's doing a lot better. She has a little incontinence. I hope it's just a side effect of the dr-ugs. She's got 70% of her appetite back and is able to do her normal 500yd walkies. I'm not with her in daylight hours so have not seen if her bowls are operating correctly. It's a worry because we are due to go away for xmas and I'm in two minds what to do. She's a wonderfull old girl. Allotment http://taylorsplot.blogspot.com/
