24 hrs in A&E
24 hrs in A&EThe night before last, I started an Atrial Fibrillation episode. A good time to try out the advice of the heart consultant given 3wks ago. I took my normal 2 tabs at bedtime, the episode started at 2.15, so as more than two hrs since last tabs, took 2 more as advised. Nothing happened, so the next morning I saw the duty doc at our surgery who told me that I can take 2 more, the 6 being the maximum dose. He said that if it went on to go to A&E as he couldn't do any more for me. By 1pm I was feeling unwell and light headed, do decided to go. That's when my trouble started.
I explained my dr-ugs history from the night before and she, the doctor, said that enough time had gone by to do something else. A drip was set up, and disappeared into me throughout the next 1/2 hr. My heart was still very fast and erratic, so a pill was given to me to slow it down as the drip hadn't immediately done so 10mins later I went very dizzy and nearly passed out. A heart specialist who had come down to see me, sent me immediately to the ward to be monitored. My heart rate had gone down to 22 from the normal minimum of 50. He then gave me 2 injections to push it up again. In the meantime large sticky pads with wires had been put onto my chest "in case" By last night it was back to 32 and is now 50 thank goodness. To say that I was worried is an understatement. I did ask the consultant when he saw me this morning, if I had been over medicated. He said that it appears so but it is very hard to find the happy medium. After waiting 3hrs to be discharged I was never more pleased to be home. Just had lunch in my own kitchen, which was lovely. I am now a widow and live with my memories.

Re: 24 hrs in A&E
Thank very much and yes, feeling fine. I felt more worried when I found out that I was possibly over medicated by a doctor, so will be very alert in future. I am now a widow and live with my memories.
