I probably drink too much tea. A pint mug four or more times a day, and I often fancy a refill.
Drinking hot water is sometimes an acceptable substitute, and nicer than cold.

I was watching the diet doctors on tv this weekend - they mentioned drinking too much water before / during a meal.. apperently it dilutes the stomach acids quite a lot and doesnt do digestion much good...

Swede and Lentil Bake.

350 gr. Lentils.
850 mls water
2 bayleaves, seasoning.

Place all ingredients in pan cover bring to the boil, and simmer 3/4 of an hour.
Or use a tins like I do.

225 gr swede, grated
olive oil
Medium onion, chopped,
2 sticks celery, finely chopped
nutmeg
chopped parsley
60 mls browned bread crumbs.

Beat the lentil to a thick consistancy, add the swede and cook for the last for 10minutes. Remove from heat. Or cook the swede seperatly, for 10 minutes, if using tins.
Heat oven 400F/200C/ gas.6.
Heat pan and fry onion and celery, cook until soft. Add this mixture to the lentil & swede, with the nutmeg and parsley.
Put mixture in an oiled dish and smooth the top. Press breadcrumbs onto the surface and cook in oven for 30 minutes.

We are having this tonight. Can have it with veg, salad etc. I add a few carrots to the swede as well, just for a change.

Dave wrote:i will post my weight on sunday morning on a new thread
anyone can join in but only the weights
any other info keep on this thread
that way we can all see the results
but please keep this one going with recepies and words of encouragement

Quick quote from the 'other' weigh loss thread...

It will be much easier to check on weight loss (or gain) if this thread is kept just for the weights as Dave suggested?? please? )b(

woops !
yes please move my posts from the other thread if you want :)

yum swede and lentil that's something i would never have thought of, and i will definitely try !

re the other thread - wendy thanks for the tips - we do try to get low fat versions of things and we have really never eaten a lot of processed food, for health if nothing else. Now that im not working for the moment there's really no excuse for not cooking using fresh ingredients!!!!

and thanks for the tips also Anna. We don't usually eat pork (I don't eat it at all) but good tip and I'll make sure we don't get any ham! My OH doesn't drink, so can't blame the beer, and he doesn't drink milk. We don't normally eat dessert ('pudding'?) and I don't cook a lot of meat as I've been vegetarian most of my life. So I am kind of scratching my head over the lack of weight loss!!

In his case he has very high blood pressure for his age, and has had to start taking medication for it, so there's quite an incentive to try and cut back the weight a bit.

Hi
We enjoyed it. Tonight we are having Green lentils and cabbage.
Again it's not the food, but how you cook it.

I've experimented a bit, and found that I can Split a thread, moving selected posts into a new thread, but there doesn't seem to be a way to move a post into an existing thread.
I'll ask the boss.

Wasn't me btw, Tassie.
