Re: really scaredthanks everyone
Re: really scaredhad the results back, bit strange really, they found traces of calcium in my tongue, keeping a very close eye on it as sometimes calcium is found in pre cancerous stages, also had the results back for sleep apnea, not so good, ive to go in today and be fitted with a cpap machine and mask which i will have to wear every night as i stop breathing quite a bit, thats scary, but it should mean that i get a reasonable nights rest for the 1st time in 3 years, and that to be honest sounds like heaven, wish me luck please, think im gonna need it
Re: really scaredThat's good news Sleepy. At least they now know what they're dealing with and can keep a close eye on your tongue
Bummer about the cpap and mask but it may not be as bad as you think. I'm sure you'll get used to it and it will just feel like second nature to wear it at night - and hopefully you'll be sound asleep so you won't notice it anyway Lucy x Lucy x
Always do sober what you said you'd do drunk. That will teach you to keep your mouth shut - Ernest Hemingway Re: really scaredIm glad the news was not all bad.Hopefuly the benefits of a good nights sleep will outweigh the wearing of the mask Good that they will keep an eye on you.
If you always do what you always do ,you will always get what you have always got!
Re: really scaredGood luck and glad things not as bad as you were worried about
Re: really scaredEverything seems to be taken care off. You tongue problem is being watched and before any probelms arise which is good. Well done your dentist.
As said I am sure the mask thingy you will get used too and have lovely long nights of sleep. Wendy http://www.busheyk9.co.uk
If you can't be a good example........ you will just have to be a horrible warning
Re: really scaredI agree, good for your Dentist, whatever, he has done you proud.
Keep well and pleased to see you are in good hands. Richard New Member? Get more from the Forum and join in 'Members Chat' - you're very welcome
Re: really scaredWell, all in all that's good news. As others have said, you will have regular checks on your tongue now and any developments will be found early, which is so important.
As for the apnia - as you say, once you have got used to wearing it, at least you can relax at night now. My hubs suffers with it, and I have often been on the verge of resuscitating him, when he has started to breath again! Big hugs. Helen xx

Re: really scaredHello sleepy, I hope all is well with you and I am glad things were not as bad as you thought. It must have been so worrying for you though. ? It is a good thing your dentist spotted something and as Richard says you are in good hands
'Pa' had cancer of the tongue, and it was his dentist that noticed something odd. He was referred to his doctors and in hospital the next day. That was 7 years ago(I think!) and all is well and fine with him now. His cancer was dealt with very swiftly indeed. I am glad for you that your Apnia is being dealt with, best wishes to you Ma Larkin
Re: really scaredI Went to the dentist some time ago and he found a lump on the jaw bone. The hospital carried out a test and as they put it, found nothing sinester. They are still deciding what to do with it.Can be worrying.Hope everything is o.k for you.
