Yoga and Pilates

Post by Sunny B »

I always thought yoga was a bit wussy and not "proper" exercise, but I've been using a dvd and have decided that actually it's really challenging!

Also had a go at Pilates and my abs felt like they'd been trampled by a herd of buffalo!

You are right !
We have been going to a pilates class for about 6 years now, twice a week. I went for a while and it took some time to get the OH to go.
He thought it was just a girlie excercise routine....he knows different now )grin2(

I used to go to a yoga class & really loved it, I have a dvd, but am out of the habit of using it.
Pilates is something that appeals - I have a dvd, but I think you need a proper instructor, at least to start with, and classes are too expensive at the moment.

Me, Spencer and my friend Helen go together. There is only the three of us and our instructor, Gail, is brilliant.
She makes sure not only are you doing it right, but you are breathing correctly as well.

Been to my weekly pilates class tonight. The good thing is that you do it at whatever level you can cope with. It is strengthening without building bulky muscle. And it is great for your back.
I tried doing it from a book, but it is easier with an instructor, and going out means you have to find time for it which I would never do otherwise.

i am lucky to have found an instructor who only charges £4 for an hours class. )t'
