We bought a memory foam mattress from the internet and it is ordinary foam with memory foam on top, depending on how much you pay you get different thicknesses of each.

The first couple of days after we got it I was hobbling around and really stiff and aching; thought we'd made a terrible mistake! But now I'm used to it I love it to bits, it's really comfy and I wouldn't go back to a "normal" mattress, even with a memory foam topping.

The shaped pillows I got with it are also brilliant, they took a bit of getting used to, but soooo nice now!

Welcome, mrs butzi, don't worry about mistakes, we all do it! And you can edit your post to correct them, click on the little "edit" box in the top right of your message. I always spot something after I've posted, and the edit is a blessing!

Well Stace, that is really spooky as we have a new mattress coming on Monday too!!

I'd forgotten about the thread, the topper worked for a while but we have realised that the mattress under is worn we have gone all out for a 'posh' mattress, lets hope this one is the most comfortable one ever.....

its such a gamble

Wishing you many peaceful nights sleep in your new beds. (f+

I treated myself to a new bed and mattress (first one in 30 or so years!) a few months ago. It was pricy, but I guess it should last a long time.

I got a full memory foam one, and its so comfy. I dont toss and turn all night, or seem to get too hot, even with up to 6 cats for company. My back is much better, although my asthama is a bit worse (wondering if linked to new mattress?) I even slept through 4 kittens doing Andrex pup impressions with the loo roll the other night. I am a very light sleeper after years of doing on-calls and sleeping with one ear open "just in case" but I do feel more refreshed in the mornings.

I used to suffer with this. After going to ear specialist about earaches, I was referred to the hospital dental specialists and they ground the surface of my molars to allow them to slip not lock. And I was given a plastic tooth guard to wear at night. I rarely need it now, but you might try a plastic gum shield like they sell in sports shops you mould it to your teeth with hot water and it does give some relief.

My daughter ws exactly the same, but just constant headaches.
The dentist made her a plastic guard and no more headaches.
Go for it Stace.

The hospital guards were free. When I asked my dentist they said it would cost £40 yike* Which is why I tried the sports ones, they are not quite as good but better than waiting for hospital referral.
