And serious about music. Despite the concentration it is so enjoyable to be part of.
I wasn't there as we danced every evening of the festival, joined in the music-making during the day, but was in that pub one afternoon, when more than threequarters of the instruments were melodeons. Not easy to get a seat, you have to stand at the fringes the worm your way in nearer the action, as others leave.

I was conceived in a tent in Whitby during the '77 folk week :-D (things my mum probably didn't need to tell me...)

Wow! We didn't start going till the early 80s, then had a break but back now and enjoying it (have learned how to pace ourselves so that we don't try to dance from 10am to 2pm with the only breaks for a run down the cliff and across the habour for an event on the 'other side' - we still carry our food so that we can munch and listen and not waste time queueing in restaurants)
