Been busy with the crochet hook
Re: Been busy with the crochet hookThat is so pretty Julie 62, looks lovel and warm, and the colours are lovely. I am
Re: Been busy with the crochet hookIt needs blocking but not got round to it yet - they're not difficult to join together - you can either just slip stitch them together or on the scarf I've joined them with double crochet which creates a kind of ridge effect. One of the reasons I like crochet is it looks a lot harder than it really is - not like following a complicated knitting pattern

I am feeling a little irritated with my very small blanket at the moment as it has stopped growing so fast! Helen xx

I think I may have too loose tension on the blue wool
I think I am going to stop now and make it into a cushion cover. How do I do that please? Helen xx

Re: Been busy with the crochet hookWell I know you can buy cushion backs from sewing shops but the lazy slatterns way (ie me) is to buy a cheap cushion in a coordinating colour and just sew it on the front .. this was a cushion I made - I sewed the squares together then stitched it to a green cushion and did a crochet edging around the outside of the squares - it was much easier than messing about making a cushion. Its not a very good picture - not got any close ups of it sorry.

Helen I can't believe how quickly you've taught yourself! Your crochet looks great The talent for being happy is appreciating and liking what you have, instead of what you don't have

I am feeling a little bit pathetic with my saggy square now! BTW, must tell you, Bok bok came round the other day and I showed her my new set of crochet hooks that had just arrived from ebay. So she asked if she could 'borrow' one At first i said not a chance, but then she smiled so sweetly.... ...so I ordered her another set, and when it arrived, reclaimed my hook. So my friend came round yesterday and I showed her my new set of crochet hooks. She too asked if she could borrow one At first I said not a chance, but she left with a hook and my only crochet book.... I am now in the process of ordering a third set. Helen xx

“cockerels may crow but it's the hen that lays the egg." Re: Been busy with the crochet hookI was tidying up today and found a vintage (1960/70) crochet book which I bought a while back to show my friend as it had a crocheted sailors cap in it and I thought it was hysterically funny as her husband sails.
It has all sorts in it though, dresses, bed cape, etc etc! I rather like it!! Helen xx
