Egg coddlers

Post by Mallard »

Recently started collecting egg coddlers. You can pay high prices, but they can still be found in charity shops for a couple of quid or less!
The decorated ones are often Royal Worcester (like the ones in the pic) the two white ones are modern and in regular use; best way I've found to eat an egg )t'

That's what everyone says; that's why you can still get em cheap!

Butter or oil the inside a touch, break an egg in it, plus seasoning if you want and stand in boiling water up to the lid.
Takes a little longer than just boiling the egg, but a much nicer way than messing with egg shell! :)

We have a family tradition of giving them as christening gifts. I was always squeamish about getting shell in my mouth from a boiled egg so I think they are the perfect way to cook eggs, plus they have butter, salt and pepper in them ready )t'
