Bit of an eye opener, I didn’t realise that the U.K has more colonies than anyone else although in fairness most of them appear to be happy with the arrangement.

That's a good article. I've just been researching Hawaii and did you know that although ruled by United states, they have the British flag with 8 red white and blue stripes representing the 8 islands of the Hawaii chain. In the mid 1800's Great Britain protected the islands from invasion (I dare say there was some trading going on )and ever since then they have happily shown the British flag . Not a colony though.
