Old magazines

Post by elljay »

Dear all, I'm working in a library which is about to turf out lots of old periodicals. Some are rough paper but the majority are glossy. All are stapled. It seems such a waste and I wondered what ideas anyone might have to deal with these. I'm talking about maybe 30 or more large box fulls eventually.

I'd like to make lots of paper logs but have nowhere to dry them. I can make use of some of them but really they need to go.

Any ideas?

Ask hospitals, old peoples homes, doctors, dentists, hairdressers etc if they'd like some.

Thanks Taff. Unfortunately the majority are really old, (1930s - 60s) filthy, mouldy, rusted staples and a very minority interest. I've given as many away to interested people as possible so am left with the remainder to recycle. The council won't let me put too many in the paper recycle skips at once but it looks as though I'll have to get rid bit by bit around the country. I was just hoping there might be some alternative use somewhere.

What volume of dry space do the logs need? I was thinking about the dry space have available and it might be useful for people who could help.
