Funnily enough it's just been sold. It didn't sell initially, and he lodged an appeal, which was due to be heard any time. The sale is perceived as a good thing, as the new owner has agreed to remove all the hardcore etc, although I think they aren't yet obliged to replant, but hopefully the powers that be can reach an agreement with them.
The thing that really grates is that effectively the sale means the guy who did all the damage gets off scott free
