from what I understand. in 2012 they should have 'enriched' cages??
Tht have a perch and litter to dust bathe. The cages are supposed to be slightly larger. But they are still keeping a living animal crowded with others in a small cage.
It is better than now. But not good enough. Try harder.Birds should be allowed to have grass beneath their feet, fresh air, perform natural behaviours et. etc. etc.

I agree it is a pathetic option )dwn: & not one i support in any shape or form, they are called "enriched cages" hens will still be forced to lay an un-natural amount of eggs with lighting control, they will still suffer broken bones from calcium deficency due to the amount of eggs produced, cannablism, pecking, never see day light, never feel the sun, grass, soil to scrat about in, preen, anything which they love, the rediculous offering of a perch & dust bath is just something else to get into a fight over )gr: )gr:
I can feel a hugeous ranteous coming on, so I'll leave it there, the list is endless
Cheers
