Thats it im going veggie

Post by lou »

My OH showed me some stuff he found on youtube about "free range farming" I felt better about myself only buying free range meat and eggs before i got my girls, but really all farming is just awful, why do these animals have to suffer? I know i probably sound really naive but i honsetly thought that they got a better deal, but it would seem not, i just watched a video clip from a rescue centre called peaceful prairie and their free range hens looked worse then the battery ones?! It was american but thats not the point.

So thats it, im not buying into this anymore. I know i sound a bit melodramatic, and i still will have to buy meat for my children, but i actually feel really depressed now.I have been going off meat anyway, thanks to my lovely chooks, and reading up so much about farming methods the last few months, but i sit here now and swear i am not eating meat again.

I've not eaten it for over 24 years, so you go for it, most of it's full of rubbish & carted kicking & screaming all over the country side, it is just dreadful it truly is.
I've had no food scares either )t'

Hi lou

I have no problems with people not eating meat - please make sure you get protein.....your body needs it.

We are mainly vegetarian and sometimes would eat free range if we went to friends.
But once I saw how they were slaughtered I cannot eat it.
There is some protein in veggies and of course the pulses are great, plus of course your eggs.
You will only have a problems if you are a real vegan and not eat any animal products.

..I was only jesting )j; , didnt mean to upset you Lou.

If you feel its the way for you, then follow your heart. Just make sure you listen to your body, and get enough nutrients (..funnily enought that word begins with the word Nut!!)

Good luck - will you be eating fish??

I'm a veggie too - and might I add, we're not stupid, and just because we don't eat meat, we still know what nutrients we need!! (f+

It makes me laugh when you're veggie, and people say - oooo make sure you get enough protein!!!

WHATEVER!!!!!!!

Go for it Lou - it's your choice after all. Oh, and when I used to eat meat, I didn't enjoy bacon, so not all veggies are after a bacon sarnie.

Secondly - if someone were to give up smoking, would people be so rude as to say " ooooooo cigarette, ooooooooo you know you want one". No - methinks not, because most people think smoking is wrong

Freedom of choice - and no, I won't be giving up smoking, and no, I won't eat meat again!

I sometimes think that people think it's "funny" to be veggie, and they act as though we're weird not to eat meat. Well, for sure, I know I won't get food poisining from chicken, BSE from beef, heart disease from red meat...............
