Terrifying game show

Post by Sunny B »

The TV has been left on, there is a truly horrendous game show on, 101 Ways to Leave a Game Show. The contestants are all on a high tower and the one that gets it wrong each time gets thrown from the top (with a bungee cord on) into a pool of water. It looks absolutely terrifying, and my wholehearted sympathy goes to the poor woman who is clearly petrified - that would be me. Oh, no, actually it wouldn't because i would never sign up for something like that!

I saw about 10 minutes of this programme, it worries me programmes like this, cos I can remember many years ago a certain television programme (won't mention which one) where similar stunts were carried out and a contestant died.

I couldn't believe it when I saw someone sitting in a shopping trolley being hurtled towards a swimming pool. What are the odds of this being done and someone being hit on head by a flying trolley????

I have seen the show and think its hysterical and NOT dangerous enough- you can see all the rigging and safety lines. Too much woolly elf'n'saftey nowadays to end up with the result that happened on Noel Edmond's show that time, but accidents can and do happen, its part of life. And danger so very often equates to fun, how dull would things be if accidents were guaranteed never to happen?

There is an American game show called Fear Factor which knocks spots off this one! Really scary dares, like walking out on a beam that goes off the top of Las Vegas tallest tower!

In a lot of ways I agree, Granny. Life is for living, not sat watching a box in the corner, laughing at someone having an accident. +confused+

There again TV is merely a tool, use it and don't let it use you and its fine. And really I suppose its no different to sitting in the corner and typing on here......

Thing is these game shows are only on TV because people want to go on them and the rest want to watch them?

In which case, Richard, I am very much going to be in the "going to watch them" camp.

No way would I like to hurtle towards the ground/pool quickly by my ankles :-D

hehe!

I mean surely these people know what they're letting themselves in for - crazy!!

There's this constant demand for a concept which hasn't been used before. Makes you wonder where it will end!
