Celebs, Twitter and Facebook
Celebs, Twitter and FacebookI forget who it was, but one of the Strictly dancers made a comment after Anita had gone into the bottom two last Saturday which rang very true..
he said that where she may have gone wrong is that she's not social networking enough, she needs to tweet and write on a facebook page more, she should get out there and be in with the fans. I would imagine this is so with all the celeb centred shows which are on, you have to sell yourself, get in with the tech, be like you're one with everyone, look after your fans and so on and so on. I can tell myself that a huge reason for DTL visitors not going down like they normally do in Autumn is because of twitter and to some extent facebook as well. Facebook is more two way, so a little separate whereas twitter more one way, short sweet and everything else. Looking around some of the celeb twitter pages when they are appearing in something shows how much a marketing tool it is - and get's votes. Love social networking or not, it's so vital for many to keep up with the times and the trends. It could be the thing which sways the difference of winning or losing regardless perhaps of talent. Re: Celebs, Twitter and FacebookTwitter is certainly used as a marketing tool, not just by individuals but by companies as well, I know someone who has a job at £35k plus and she is responsible for the companies presence on Twitter, nice work if you can get it

If you can't be a good example........ you will just have to be a horrible warning Re: Celebs, Twitter and FacebookDon't tweet or facebook, and can't say I miss it. Prefer to meet friends in person or chat on phone or e-mail. Sad that what started as a social thing has been hijacked by commercialism.
Re: Celebs, Twitter and FacebookIt's true that many 'Stars' big Politicians simply get their PA or whoever to tweet for them. You can usually sort them out by the amount they tweet, I don't think David Cameron or Ed Milliband go around tweeting all day!
I know a couple of big Website owners who employ someone to tweet for them. From my point, I try and balance personal fun type stuff with short things relating to a page on the website. For instance I did one the other day saying something like '100's of great photo's showing examples of Forum Members Chicken Coops, go to......link' Within an hour, that thread had over 40 viewers. But with celebs on shows, it's a vote for me tool because I love you all and give you some background stuff. Richard New Member? Re: Celebs, Twitter and FacebookI am very wary of Facebook for spyware and viruses, so I only use it to keep tabs on what friends are up to.
I've never tweeted. I was going to have a look to see what it was all about one day, but it wanted me to sign up first, so I didn't bother. Missing my little friend Sunny Clucker
