cuttings from a fast growing conifer!

I'm wanting to run a line of conifers down the garden and instead of buying a load of small ones I thought I'd have a go at taking some cuttings and growing my own.

Does anyone know the best way of doing this?? or have any hints and tips???

I might have to do a midnight raid on one of the neighbours conifers (or I could just ask but where is the fun in that?).
