corrugated plastic ???corrugated plastic ???Can anyone tell me the best way to cut corrugated plastic so it won't crack or split?
Should I use a saw, a craft knife or some sort of hot knife (which I don't have!) I'm roofing my run and I need to slice off about 18" off each end piece. Thanks
Re: corrugated plastic ???If the sheets are the correct length but too wide, just overlap more.
An angle grinder worked for me, slow and steady. You can cut the width down by using a staney knife as well, just keep going over it, slow and steady Some days you're the pigeon, some days you're the statue.
Re: corrugated plastic ???Thanks Steve - It's across the wiggles if you see what I mean! We have an angle grinder and a stanley knife so I'll have a careful try and tomorrow
Re: corrugated plastic ???If you have a jigsaw, a metal cutting blade for it and take it very slow making sure it is supported underneath on both sides if the cut it should cut easily.

Re: corrugated plastic ???Dont know if it will work on corugated plastic, but when I have cut briitle plastics in the past I have used a jigsaw (very fine blade) or a fine blade hand saw I have stuck on a strip of insulation tape where the cut is to be madem marked out the cutting line onto the tape, then cut very slowly and this has helped to minimize cracking etc.
Dont ever grow up, its a trap
Re: corrugated plastic ???If you don't have a jigsaw you can use a hacksaw blade with tape around one end as a handle (the teeth cutting on the down stroke), but happybob is right. Use masking tape and draw the line on that, then cut through both. Slow and easy is the way, not hard jerky cuts as they will only crack the plastic.

Re: corrugated plastic ???Why not leave an over hang if it is above head height, it will ensure any drops run away from the run and in the front keep you dry entering the run.
