Tips of my Aloe Vera going brown..

Post by lizziedoggarden »

Can anyone tell me why all of a sudden the tips on my Aloe Vera plant have have started to go brown and crispy? It's had exactly the same care for a year and it's not been moved at all +confused+

Morning Lizzie,
If the tips that are brown have been touching the glass of the window they can go brown.
Or it might be pot bound, especially if it has lots of new plants groewing from the bottom, so a slightly bigger pot, fresh cacti compost and trimming the new plants off might help. You could try potting up the new shoots, plants for free.
They do need quite a bit of light so a south facing window is best.
Hope that's some help.

Mine has been shoved into a tiny pot for years and flowered a couple of years back. Then it got knocked off the windowsill and snapped in half and died more or less but it is looking slightly better now, although due to it's chequered past, a lot of it is brown so I don't know about the tips. Sorry.

The tips of my spider plants (when I used to keep them) ALWAYS went brown. Used to drive me mad.

Hope you sort it. )t'

Mine sits in a draughty east facing window, but only the small leaves close to the soil turn brown. It was a 50p job in a charity shop, which I re-potted; I see it sending out shoots now! I read that you should re-pot into wider pots not necessarily deeper. >coc<
