Marigolds???

Post by fabindia »

I have a number of marigolds that seem not to flower but simply put out buds that are just seed heads. Am I missing something? Is this odd or does happen with marigolds?

Did you sow seeds from a packet this year? or did they self seed from last year? if ss, what were last years like?
Is it just the flowers on one plant, lots of them or all?
Does the slug option sound plausible to you. It does to me but I haven't seen them.

You've got me intrigued.

I grow the little french marigold from seed each year as they are so easy to do, a great success rate. Must say I dont usually have probs with them they are tough little things , have you got them in the ground or are they in tubs ? Suppose it must be slugs but you arent on your own , today I went to move a small type dahlia in a pot to a more prominent position as it was getting overshadowed only for the complete plant to topple out of the pot (apart from the tuber) it was so annoying as the buds had just started to open to a pretty pink, the way the stem was severed I can only think that must have been slugs too.
It will be alright in the end , if its not alright, it isn't the end .
