Step Over Apples

Post by Knikitta »

Does any one know what variety of Apples Monty has in his garden?

He calls them his 'step-over' apples and he has trained them to only grow a few inches off the ground, hence, he can step over them.
I swear I'll have a permanent imprint of my palm over my face from reading forums.

no idea of the variety (sorry, not seen GW for a while), but it's most likely to be on a dwarf rootstock which can seriously limit the height of the tree, plus good pruning/training horizontally.

Yes "Step Over" refers to the method of growing and training the trees. They can be any variety.
If you want to grow your own then buy the youngest possible plant on dwarfing rootstock and train the plant as it grows.
