Sweet Peas

Post by fabindia »

Some laners have said their sweet peas haven't been too good this year. Mine haven't been too bad.

I gave a bunch to an elderly widowed neighbour who has touched as she said she had sweet peas as her bouquet on her wedding day. What a lovely thought, that although folks didn't have much money then, something as fragrant as a bunch of sweet peas can bring back happy memories.

Mine started flowering in early June (I think) and were stunning until a couple of weeks ago when powdery mildew finally got them and they started looking really sorry for themselves.

Have to say I cut LOADS of flowers while they were going though.
