Chooks favourite treat?

Post by itsmeonhen »

I thought it would be good fun to hear what your Chickens really really really like so to kick off this thread, here's what we have found so far:

An apple makes them go daft - one grabs it and the rest give chase like a benny hill type of caper....... I'll need to get a video of this cause it's got to be worth £250 on you've been framed!
10 ex-bats rehomed and lovin it..... Another 10 to come and they'll be lovin it tooooo.

Live yoghurt mixed with corn and poultry spice or diatom.

Pasta, definitely pasta!! Spaghetti also favourite and great fun to watch them eat - running all over the place trying to stop it being stolen!! )eat(

They did go nuts for three mornings when I administered verm-x by mixing it with pureed apple, a little water and layers pellets. Made a lovely wet mash that they dashed out for and scoffed in record time! )t'

Great way to make sure they all had some of the verm-x!!

Along with 'all the above' I am growing beetroot this year and every day I pull off a few leaves and break up the stems for them to share. They absolutely love them.

My ladies like grapes, tomatoes, pasta and rice best. Think the pasta is the all time favourite though.

Snails and slugs go down a treat (haven't seen them with a frog) Live giant mealworms, pasta (usually spaghetti), any green leaves from the allotment. Grapes, tomatoes. my Mrs's toes {rofwl} she really must stop wearing sandals into the run.
