Large fowl not bantams, they are oeg they have mixed in the garden then they go in there own coop and run. The oegs hens are 6 months with a nine month old cockerel and the seramas are about 11 months

Reminds me of the time I talked about the PLA (Preschool Learning Assoc.) in a topic about early education and got banned from the Answerbank. Did they think it was a terrorist group?

If they are mixing when they free range and are ok i would try but be ready to separate if the big ones are to rough with them. I have mixed bantams and large fowl but seramas are tiny.

You can mix then in the same way as you would any breed...the only thing you would need to do is make especially sure in the initial stages there is no bullying due to the size difference....multiple feed and drink places are helpful and there is plenty of space for them to get away from each other.
A water pistol can be handy if it gets really nasty a quick squirt to the offender but it's a real suck it and see situation even with breeds of similar sizes.

I was going to ask about the same thing, I have looked at a web site called chooks farm, in Birmingham, the chickens I was looking at getting are, Sussex Ranger, Pied Ranger, Calder Ranger, all hybrids, the other one I was wondering if would be ok, as my sons want this lady, Salmon Favorolles, (had that wrote down, never remember how to spell it, or say it, ha) Would they all be ok together, dont want the breeder selling them to me just to make money if they wont get on, the salmon one is £35, as she is pure breed, the others are all £18 each, hopefully someone will let me know, still have to make some changes to my chicken area, all stuff I was doing anyway for my former ladies.
Thanks in advance x x x x {hug&kiss} >dum<

Hi. I have 2 salmon Favourolles. They are big girls. Mine have just started laying, well one has, they are bigger than my 3 year old Light Sussex and Bluebelles. But they are very soft and prone to being bullied.

If you're heading that way anyways I'd recommend gobbetts farm, it's in Gloucestershire, they had most popular pure breeds all together and they only charge about £23 per hen. I got a faverolle, araucana, Wyandotte and a Brahma a few months ago to add with my hybrids and thus far have had no problems.

Hi, I will have a look at the other farm, dont want any of the hens to be bullied thou, would rather get them at the same time, I rang up the chooks farm and they said wouldnt have salmon one till september possibly, so will look around, cheers, they said if not getting at the same time, you have to introduce the new one at night, and see how they are in the morning, sounds wierd to me, wouldnt want to do that anyway, rather have them settle at the same time. >eas2<
