Just thought this may be interesting.

I'll leave this as a sticky for newcomers.

drat . It's not my day.
I've got 6 not 7.
Started with 3.
1 died
added 2
1 was culled 1 died
added 4.
I think my arc is up to capacity now.

Or could I squeeze in some more?

As long as you don't mix the 1's with the I's you'll be OK Mo.

I've been in similar situations. I once had over 30 and have been down to 4.

Problem was I went to Auction where a local Battery Farm sold them off and came home with 6 for a £1 on a few occasions.
I fed them up and found homes for them.

At present some of mine must be getting on a bit, but I luv'em!!

:-D I am the proud chief carer for one very spoilt but much loved rooster ...The Colonel. He is going from strength to strength after his mystery illness but isnt impressed by the constant streams of noisy motorbikes going by all day. He lives at a large mansion house situated on the TT track. We are expecting around 20,000motorbikes for the centenary and they arent all here yet!

Well I have voted 4 as that is what I have at the present.
But I have just come home from seeing seven 10 day old chicks. Their father is a black laced orpington and mother a buff, and a number of other hens.
I had said I would have one of the orpington crosses if they are hens. But somehow I have been persuaded to take two?
Here's hoping they are girls.

Well I have 17 at the moment, after my husband bought an air rifle to kill off the crows, jackdaws and magpies and ended up killing one of my Japanaese Yokahamese's!

Caroline

PS still hasn't managed to kill a crow 17 days later!
Downshifting isn't far away!

how many

Post by melons »

5.
I've been off work today & they've been in the garden with me all day diggin for worms under the hedge, they are totally worn out & look like they've all been shot, they're all asleep spread out by the back door.
I'd have hundreds more, if I had cash, I'd just get literally hundreds of ex batts & let the whole lot go in a field with houses & everything else, I'd be like the preverbial pig in.....poop.
Cheers

8 Eight! 5 new girls arrived today, picked up from John and Monica Hall.....I am surprised how well feathered they are. They (and me) have spent the afternoon in their part of the run. They carried on about their business but, the two older ones I had to take out into a pen as the noise they made was unbearable. I have one feather pecker amongst this lot which I don't think is bad. I am shattered I hope they will be soon!

I have 9 chickens and 3 ducklings. We got 3 of the chickens from a farm, another 3 are ex batts which we have had for about 3 weeks now and then the last 3 we have had from 4 wks old and are now 14 weeks, they are a black copper french maran, a buff orpington and an old english game bantam.
