Egg Laying
Egg LayingWhat time of day or night do hens lay their eggs, is there a special time for them, or is it literally any time, day or night.
It would seem that it's anywhere from dawn to about the middle of the afternoon.
An egg takes about 24/25 hours to be produced by the hen. So if you had just one chicken you'd notice it getting later each day - then none. It's a bit of a tale when you hear someone saying about collecting the eggs in the morning, unless that's the only time you do it. I'm sure you'll get a few oddities, but this is a pretty good guideline I think. New Member? Get more from the Forum and join in 'Members Chat' - you're very welcome
