Pic of pullet eggs, do you have some?

Post by LynneP »

Many of us have pullets at point of lay and some who are beginning to give us eggs. I have one, and a second seriously acting like she wants to make breakfast for us. Do you have some pullet eggs from 2011? This photo has 3 on the left and a normal Australorp egg on the right. Australorps tend to produce large eggs, but not the XL or Jumbos you get from the batts and ex-batts. All of the pullet eggs have yolks, an unexpected bonus!

I got the bluebell and the cuckoo maran at the same time and they were7-8 weeks old, they are both laying well now , the bluebell nice big slighty pink eggs the same size as the rest of the girls but the cuckoo maran is laying bantam size deep brown eggs . Maybe she will get the hang of bigger eggs one day , she is rather gorgeous so I am happy with just small eggs .
It will be alright in the end , if its not alright, it isn't the end .

I used to buy bantam eggs from a friend. Found they had more yolk in proportion.

My pullet eggs have very pale yolks compared to the hen I've had for a year. All Black Rocks, the new ones shells are quite pale too(though sometimes freckley). When I make cakes its like oranges and lemons in the bowl.

I love deep yolk color too. Finally cracked my first 8 pullet eggs from Opal and Alice:
