Broody bantam again....

Post by FURNYFARMER »

so ive had my 2 hybrid bantams since february and in that time henrietta has been broody twice and each time ive moved her out of the nesting box and blocked it up once babs has layed and after about a week henrietta goes back to normal. This time its babs turn to be broody and she is proving to be very defiant when i try to move her, but the strange thing is that when she is in the nesting box henrietta stays with her but when henrietta is broody babs does her own thing and goes in the run. almost as if babs is the dominant one. would this make henrietta broody too? or she just keeping her company?

I can't give any advice but in my extremely limited experience (and none with 'proper' hens - mine are ex-batts) they will go broody as when they see fit. I've read that if you allow eggs to collect in the box that may encourage them.
