It had to happen

Post by p.penn »

In just over a month, I have now lost 3 chooks {cry}. Firstly, one of my skylines, then 12 days ago one of my batties , who I have had for 2½ years now. Then, this morning, I found my dear purple Myrtle all snuggled up in the nest box. She had passed away during the night and must have been around 6 years old. I was so fond of her - she was such a sweetie. {cry}

I had a feeling this was going to happen, as, aside from Pudding and Pie (who I got a year ago), my flock is getting quite elderly and I hadn't lost a chook for quite some time.

Thanks {hug} I was particularly upset that I lost Myrtle as I was really attached to her. A grand old lady. {cry}

It does seem so, doesn't it? :?

I have to say that I will be taking this opportunity to reduce my flock a little, to make them slightly more manageable. I did have 8 ladies, and am now down to 5, and I think 3 or 4 is probably the number I will ultimately settle with.

Famous last words possibly :oops:
