Madge has just laid our very first egg we are so proud!

Post by andy5898 »

Madge was no where to be seen a minute ago and she is the leader which is a bit of a surprise.

Then after 5 minutes she re appeared with a very satisfied look on her face and feeling quite proud of herself. We looked in the nesting box and there was our very first home laid egg from our girl Madge.

We are so proud as I type the egg is still warm! :-D

Congratulations .. )t' Even after 4 years I still get excited over them laying especially when they all lay an egg on the same day .but there is nothing like the first one .It might as well have been made of gold I was so pleased .

How lovely. It really is exciting when each hen lays their first egg. My Cupid laid an egg the day after we collected the chooks, and it was so tiny that I put it in an egg cup to show it off and it disappeared into the depths!
So now all you have to decide is boiled, fried, poached...

We boiled it so we could all have a bit as she is only young it was only a little egg. But we were just so chuffed she had laid one it doesn't matter.
Although Madge seemed to realise we were very proud of her so she spent all day bringing herself and fellow hens into the kitchen to say hi!

We kept the shell of our very first egg, :oops:

It really is exciting and I thank them everytime I get an egg, it never ceases to make me smile when I lift the lid and eggs are there {hug}
