I have a chickalick!!I have a chickalick!!Pipping had started last night about half 7, this morning i got up and found an empty shell and couldnt hear anything my hearted sank i thought maybe it hadnt survived or martha had eaten it, i didnt dare look!!
but look: Im made up and so proud of martha hen shes being a proper mama! none of the others have hatched and are showing no signs of doing so, to be honest this egg has always been the heaviest despite martha getting off them and letting them go stone cold! photos of allotment & other nice things: http://pinterest.com/girlontheplot/

Re: I have a chickalick!!Oh bless...well if she has the one she has the one ...she will be happy because she has it...chances are if the others don't hatch within the next day she'll get off them anyway. Anyway you can get them to your ear and see if you can hear anything (because you can if they are viable at that age).

Re: I have a chickalick!!You'd be able to hear them moving around or trying to pip...you can hear tapping and scratching...but if they're a lot lighter chances are she's (hopefully a she) going to be an only chick.

Yeah I can't hear anything, no movement or anything, tbh I'm surprised even one has hatched, she got off them at about day 10/11 and they were stone cold, and then she for back on them. I'm quite made up with the one I am! Xx photos of allotment & other nice things: http://pinterest.com/girlontheplot/
