Post by Caligula »

Do Chickens need any injections after they have had them done while young (upto 16 weeks I think)

I was mainly thinking of Salmonella & E-Coli

I read a while back in a previous post (can't find it now) that the vaccines that would be used are only available in huge quantities so would not be viable for anyone but commercial chicken keepers.

Yes, this is something that has been mentioned previously here.

Vaccines for poultry are sold in quantities which would be suitable for vaccinating hundreds of chooks.

If you want to know more about vaccinating your own chooks contact your vet for advise.

I personally think that vaccinating cats and dogs yearly is a £££ exercise for vets... i'm happy to be corrected but humans don't have yearly vacinations just a course.
I have chickens Blaze, Star and Comet, who have met Sunny Clucker in Cheshire :-)
