Egg Size

Post by Phil Black Rock »

My Black Rocks at around 6 months old are laying eggs weighing around 60 gms, got one last night at 101gms, its a real whopper though only 40gms heavier than the usual eggs, its around 3 times the size, how on earth has my chook passed this enormous thing.

She's certainly beat my ex battery girl, the biggest she has laid is 94gms - their poor bottoms must be sore....

Hi all,

When my chooks first started laying, I too got quite a few doubles, but this seems to be normal while they settle down. I will post a picture of this monsterous egg, if I can remember how to do it.

This morning one of them had produced an 84gm - 2.94oz egg.. and it looked huge - Phil your 101gm monster egg must be ridiculous!
