Sarah's Cheeky ChickensSarah's Cheeky ChickensI started my chicken adventures in April 2011. Having thought about it and researched for a year. My first 3 girls and coup were a birthday present from my mum.
I got Fleur, ( light sussex ) Hiedi ( blacktail ) and Gabby ( bluebell ) I soon realised that the run wasn't big enough so my kids made them a patio. They were very friendly In 2012 for my birthday I got 2 beautiful baby Orpingtons. Marmite and Cadbury. Sadly Cadbury got very ill in September In October 2012 I got 2 ex bats. Alice and Martha. They were both very happy until Alice started walking funny and got bubbles in her eyes. I took her to Happy Chicks for Sarah to look at and she said to leave her with her for some TLC. When I went back 1 week later Alice looked well but started to show signs of stress when she saw the box. I rescued her for her to have a better life so have left her with Sarah where she is happy. I didn't come home empty handed though. So that brings us up to today. I am getting 2-3 eggs per day from 4 girls. Marmite doesn't lay, she tried that, didn't like it. I went in to the Walk-in-Run today to check the perimiter, the gate didn't shut properly behind me so the girls took the chance and ran. Luckily as they are laying they squat and are easy to catch, except Marmite This is the Walk-in-Run now. Re: Sarah's Cheeky ChickensVery nice set up, can we have a close up shot though please.
How is pusscat settling in? Re: Sarah's Cheeky Chickens
My birthday is the end of March Not sure I have space for anymore.
Ollie is very cute, all claws and teeth at the moment. So funny to watch in the morning when he runs around the house and up and down the furniture. It is hard to get a close up shot and not show the mess Sarah - slave to Cats Anthony, Elsa and Pippa, Chickens, Heidi, Fleur, Gabby and Marmite, R.I.P Cadbury

The talent for being happy is appreciating and liking what you have, instead of what you don't have
Woody Allen Re: Sarah's Cheeky Chickens
Hi Ace, this little cat hasn't been outside yet but the other 3 don't really mind the girls, if the cats are sleeping in the garden and the chooks wander by the cats just move over a bit. It is quite funny as the girls are very methodical in their scratching, they start in one corner of the garden, nearest the coup and work their way around under the hedge, just where the cats like to sleep. At this point Marmite thinks she saw a worm over the other side of the garden so they all run over there, the cats go back, Fleur tell Marmite not to be daft and they go back to the hedge, and cats. Re: Sarah's Cheeky ChickensHow cute is Olly I love watching my cat with the chickens, she just wanders through them, they move over to make room for her so she can have a quick 'sniff'/look at whatever they are scratching for, then she just moves on , has a scratch on the tree and generally lies on the roof of the run watching the antics
sharing my home with Kasa the Kelpie Dog, Trouble & Chaos the cats, 8 ex batts and an ever suffering animal suffocated OH
Re: Sarah's Cheeky ChickensIf the weather holds I will clean out the run today.
Being careful not to fall down the big hole they have dug. Fleur and Martha always come running when I open the back gate. Marmite, Heidi and Gabby in the hole and Martha and Fleur. Marmite is supposed to be a L F Orpington but she is the same size as Martha, ex batt. Sarah - slave to Cats Anthony, Elsa and Pippa, Chickens, Heidi, Fleur, Gabby and Marmite, R.I.P Cadbury
